Midwives in Minnesota

Attending Births at Home and Hospital
The care you receive from Homebirth Midwives is different from the care you receive from Hospital Midwives. Be sure you ask questions about the care you'll receive of the midwives you're interviewing.
Here are a few good questions to ask, in case you're not sure what sets different birth attendants apart...

1. What are some ways you can help me cope with labor pain?
This will differentiate who is more natural-minded (or experienced with normal birth) and who is more likely to depend on medical interventions.
2. How many births have you attended as a midwife?
3. Are you a licensed/certified midwife? If not, why?
4. Will I be required to see an OB before or during the birth?
